Sight — user manual

1. If you cannot see this page

Do not start with this manual. Start with sound.

1. Ask a helper to type pinkhouse.tech/listen and press Enter. Or you press the gold bar if you can find the top of the page. If a coach is with you, they use the coach door. If you are alone, the self door is the shortcut plus the four facts.
2. Click anywhere on the black page, or press the space bar. The browser needs that first press. Then it will talk.
3. Sit still. The trainer has nine parts. You can repeat. You can stop. You can jump with the number keys.
4. A helper can stay for Stop first, then leave. Off is Control, Windows, Enter if the whole computer starts talking.

If you have no helper and you cannot find the gold bar: someone who can see a little can Tab from the top of pinkhouse.tech. The first loud link is Listen first.

2. Stop first

Learn this before you turn anything on.

1. If Windows is reading every window, including Mail: hold Ctrl + Win + Enter.
2. If this website is talking: press Sound until it says Sound again, or press the pink button Off. On the trainer, press S.
3. If the whole PC is black and gold: Left Alt + Left Shift + Print Screen, or Settings → Accessibility → Contrast themes → None.
4. If Magnifier is open: Win + Esc.

If it is still talking, say so. Do not keep pressing other keys.

3. Try it on Pink House

1. Open pinkhouse.tech.
2. The Sight zone is a square about four inches by four inches, on the right, below the menu. On a narrow phone it sits above the headline.
3. Press the pink button. A ring appears. Help is on.
4. Press Colour. This page only goes black and gold. Press Colour again for cream.
5. Press Sound. This page talks. Press Sound to stop.
6. Press the pink button again. The ring goes. Help is off. Other windows never changed.

Everyone else looking at the same public page still sees cream unless they turn help on for themselves.

4. Pink button

1. Press the pink circle. Ring means On.
2. Press it again. No ring means Off. Colour goes. Sound stops.
3. It does not start Narrator. It does not change Excel. It does not change Mail.

5. Colour

1. Pink button On.
2. Press Colour, or Alt + V.
3. If you hate it, press Colour again, or press the pink button Off.

If the whole computer went dark, that is not this switch. Go back to Stop first.

6. Sound

1. Pink button On, except on the trainer and on “Read this part,” which work without it.
2. Press Sound, or Alt + L. Same button stops it.
3. If the browser asks to speak, allow it for this site. Prefer Edge or Chrome.

Sound will not read Mail. If every window talks, that is Narrator. Ctrl + Win + Enter.

7. Make it bigger

1. Ctrl + + makes this page larger. Again if you need more.
2. Ctrl + 0 puts it back.
3. All of Windows: Settings → Accessibility → Text size.
4. Magnifier is Windows: Win + + to open, Win + Esc to close. Pink House does not launch it.

8. Mail and other windows

The pink button never reads Mail. If Mail is talking and you did not ask: Ctrl + Win + Enter.

If you want one message read on purpose, use Immersive Reader — not Narrator.

1. Outlook, Microsoft address: open the message → View → Immersive Reader → Play. Close it when you are done.
2. Gmail or mail in a browser: open the message in Edge → Enter Immersive Reader → speaker. Close it when you are done.

Narrator reads Mail and also the desktop and the next window. Pink House will not start it. If you choose it later, memorise the off key first, and sit with someone the first time.

9. Google Docs

Docs has its own list. If you only remember three things:

1. Make your own copy.
2. Zoom.
3. When the eyes quit, download a PDF and listen in Edge Immersive Reader.

Open the Google Docs list.

10. Put it on a website

This is not a Windows install. This is one line on a site you own.

1. Try it first on pinkhouse.tech.
2. Paste this just before </body>:

3. Reload. A pink button appears in the corner. Open it. Hide puts it back.

If you do not own the site, a helper can save a bookmark named Sight. Some sites block it. Full cost note and the bookmark line: Sight on your website. Sample: fake bakery.

A person who cannot see the line should not have to type it. The audio trainer speaks the address slowly. A helper pastes it.

11. If an old helper comes back

Earlier work installed a Windows helper named Pink House Sight. It could change the whole computer. It could start at logon. This site will not put it back on.

1. Go to the remove page.
2. Download the Off zip.
3. Unzip it.
4. Double-click TURN-IT-OFF.bat.
5. If Windows is still talking: Ctrl + Win + Enter.

12. If something is wrong

1. Colour and Sound do nothing. Press the pink button first.
2. This page is cream, but the whole PC is black and gold. Windows contrast, not Colour. Use Stop first.
3. Sound does not speak. Edge or Chrome. Allow speech. Use the trainer — it does not need the pink button.
4. Every window talks. Ctrl + Win + Enter, then Settings → Narrator → Off.
5. A panel named Pink House Sight comes back after logon. Off zip. We will not put it back on.
6. Apple. Colour and Sound on this website still work in Safari. Windows keys do not. No whole-computer helper yet.

13. Keys on one card
